Park Ranger (Visitor Services Specialist)

As a Park Ranger (Visitor Services Specialist) the incumbent will be responsible for developing on-site education programs for a variety of audiences, preparing and conducting teacher trainings, participating in the overall interpretive program, and assisting with the implementation of a comprehensive public outreach program. Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
opening and closing the Visitor Center, greeting the public, providing support in the form of interpretive services, permitting sales, conducting tours of the Visitor Center, and assisting in the daily-to-day operation of the facilities. Only experience and education obtained by September 17, 2019 will be considered. You must meet one of the below requirements in order to qualify for this position at the GS-07 level:
A) Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to:
Park Guide or tour leader; work in a park, recreation or conservation area; management, assistant or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations. B) Possess 1 full academic year of graduate education related to the position. Major of study is in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. C) Possess a bachelor's degree (with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources) and meet one of the following superior academic achievement provisions:
(a) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of their graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; (b) Grade Point Average (GPA) - Applicants must have a GPA of :
3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Note:
GPAs are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will be rounded to 3.0, and 2.94 will be rounded to 2.9. (c) Election to membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society - These national societies are listed in the Association of College Honor Societies:
Booklet of Information and/or Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities. Note:
Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. D) Possess an appropriate combination of GS-05 level specialized experience and graduate level education, which meets 100% of the qualification requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
